France to request handover of Chilean suspect

French prosecutors say they've launched a procedure to ask Chile to hand over a Chilean man suspected of murdering a Japanese woman three years ago.

University student Narumi Kurosaki went missing while studying in France in December 2016.

French authorities put her former boyfriend Nicolas Zepeda on an international wanted list on suspicion of murdering her, as he had returned to his country.

French investigators visited Chile in April to question Zepeda and said more investigations were needed.

French media say Chilean authorities are unlikely to hand him over, due to an alleged lack of evidence.
