Share prices rose in New York after the US government announced a delay in its plan to impose additional tariffs on some Chinese products.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended Tuesday's session at 26,279. That's up 372 points from the previous day's close.
Apple shares climbed more than 4 percent as the iPhone is one of the items covered by the tariff postponement.
Market players say the US announcement has somewhat allayed concerns, although it remains unclear whether the US-China trade row will be resolved. They say they are keeping a close eye on the trade negotiations between the two countries.
