Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has dismissed the British government's accusation that Iran attempted to impede a British oil tanker.
The British government on Thursday said that boats believed to belong to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps approached and tried to impede the tanker near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday.
Zarif told Iranian media on Thursday that the British tanker had apparently passed through the strait. He said the British government's claims were intended to create tension, but they have no value.
Iran's government-affiliated Fars news agency quotes the Revolutionary Guard as saying that its boats have not had any contact with foreign vessels, including British ones, within the last 24 hours.
