Atomic bomb publications database released online

A multilingual bibliography of writings on the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has been made available online.

The project was organized by LinguaHiroshima, a group of researchers based in the city of Kure in Hiroshima Prefecture.

The group's website offers a list of about 3,500 writings published in a total of 75 languages. The database includes the works' title, author and date of publication.

Users can search for publications using keywords in their native language. They can also narrow down their search by category, such as "memoir" or "photographic records."

The group says it sought the cooperation of about 40 researchers around the world to create the bibliography. It plans to continue its work and expand the database.

Editor Tomoko Nakamura says she hopes the website will prompt as many people as possible to wish for the total abolition of nuclear weapons.
