The world's tallest hotel has opened in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
The Gevora Hotel is a 75-story tower standing 356 meters tall. It is one meter taller than the previous record holder JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, which is also in Dubai.
Local reports say the hotel has more than 500 rooms and cost more than 130 million dollars to build.
The new hotel aims to differentiate itself from its upscale rivals by offering cheaper room rates. It hopes to attract customers such as families.
The opening on Monday comes as Dubai's economy continues to grow. The emirate is now home to 7 of the world's 10 tallest hotels.
Analysts are watching how the opening of the new hotel will stimulate Dubai's tourism.
