Original manga author Koyama Aiko's comment
Many must be living a life so different since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. My workplace has also adopted remote work and I am working at my desk. My heart is full when I think that the manga characters on paper, that were created merely on my small desk, will be made into anime characters that will speak and move, through the talent of so many people and will appear on TV in homes around the world. I too am looking forward to seeing them from my home.

Cast

Hanazawa Kana (Kiyo)
True to the meaning of her name, Kiyo has a pure heart. The unique, warm meals she makes are not only tasty but brimming with respect and encouragement for her Maiko House family. I will perform her role with care, letting her many wonderful attributes shine.
M ∙ A ∙ O (Sumire)
I will perform Sumire's role with all my heart, portraying her unwavering effort and determination to become a noteworthy maiko. I hope you also enjoy Kyoto's lovely atmosphere and the many delicious-sounding dishes in animation form. Please enjoy the show!!
Takayama Minami (Kenta)
The richness of the maikos' inner lives is told against the tranquil images of their world in this wonderful manga. I've loved the series since it was first published. The characters' expressions and behaviors, the sense of the seasons, the countless dishes... I'm as surprised and overjoyed as anyone to be chosen for such a big role. I hope to stand by Kiyo and Sumire, infusing each one of Kenta's few spoken words with his quiet passion.
Matsuda Satsumi (Tsurukoma)
I was left with a warm impression when I read the original work for the first time. Maiko are so beautiful, but they are people. Of course, they get hungry! I felt a special kinship with Tsurukoma's energy. What will the manga be like in animation? Get ready to fill up on these stories!
Koyama Rikiya (Big Brother)
My legal domicile has always been Kyoto's Gionmachi. As a student, I worked parttime at a restaurant in nearby Tominagacho. I delivered food on my bicycle, carrying such dishes as grilled mackerel, simmered mackerel, rice balls, seasoned vegetables, one-pot sukiyaki and pork miso soup to many thoroughfares and neighborhoods around Gion. The big sisters and brothers of the district would say, "Keep it up," as I passed by. It makes me very happy that I've now become the Big Brother in this animation.
