Rice with Green Peas (Mame gohan)

Ingredients (serves 2-3)
- 80 g green peas (in pods)
- 360 ml rice
- 1 konbu kelp (10 cm square)
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tsp natural salt
Wash and drain rice one hour before cooking.
Pop open the pods and remove the peas. Rinse. (Peas straight from the pod are sweeter and more flavorful.)
Put the rice and konbu in the rice cooker and pour water up to the level specified for two measuring cups (360 ml). Add the green peas, 1 tablespoon sake and 1 teaspoon salt and set the cooker as you would for white rice. This is all it takes to cook rice with green peas.
When the rice is done, remove the konbu and lightly mix everything together. Mold the rice into a small round shape and put in a bento lunch box.
