Use canned tuna to make a frugal but exceptionally delicious rice dish.

Excludes time needed to soak the rice.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 2 rice measuring cups rice (400 ml)
  • 450 ml water
  • 1 canned tuna (in oil, small) (80 g)
  • 3 scallions (chopped)
  • 1 piece ginger (thinly shredded)
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

Directions

Rinse the rice and drain. Add the specified amount of water and soak for at least 30 minutes.

Mix in 1 tbsp of sake and 2 tbsp of soy sauce. Drain the canned tuna and place on top. Cook the rice.

Plate up, and garnish with scallions and shredded ginger. (Be sure to soak the ginger for several minutes to remove the bite, and drain thoroughly.)
