Small and Spicy Soramame Fava Beans
Vivid green fava beans stir-fried in olive oil. Hot and spicy, makes a great nibble to go with drinks.

- 500 g soramame fava beans (unshelled) (net 100 g)
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 dried red chili
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- A pinch of salt
Shell the fava beans. Use your fingernails to remove any black sections, but do not peel.
Thinly slice the garlic. Deseed the dried red chili and chop.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Stir-fry the garlic and chili over low heat. Just before the garlic starts to brown, add the beans, salt and water. Cover with aluminum foil and steam-fry while tossing until the liquid has evaporated.
For a heartier dish, add chopped bacon. Makes a delicious pasta.
