Ingredients (Pieces 4)

  • 1 potato (200-250 g)
  • 50 g bacon (thinly-sliced)
  • Tonkatsu sauce, as needed
  • Aonori flakes, as needed
  • Skipjack shavings, as needed
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

1

Peel and grate the potato. Chop up the bacon. Combine the grated potato and bacon in a bowl. Add 1 tbsp of mayonnaise and mix.

2

Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan placed over medium heat. Drop 1/4 of the potato mixture into the pan and flatten to form a 5 cm-round pancake. Make three more pancakes. When both sides are a golden brown, spread one side with tonkatsu sauce and sprinkle with aonori flakes and skipjack shavings.

Advice

Use a spoon to drop the mixture into the pan, and make sure to leave enough space in between the pancakes.

Tips

Enhance the flavor by adding minced Japanese leeks or onions.
