A suribachi is a Japanese grinding bowl with grooves combed into the inner surface. It can be used to grind or crush ingredients, and even mash potatoes!

- 2 potatoes (boiled)
- 90-100 ml milk
- Nutmeg, as needed
- A little less than 1 tsp natural salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- Black pepper, as needed
Put the hot potatoes in a suribachi grinding bowl and grind thoroughly.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter and blend. Add the milk a little at a time and blend until smooth.
Add a pinch of nutmeg and season with salt. Sprinkle with ground black pepper to taste.
Use as little salt as possible to enhance the natural flavor of the potatoes.
