Pan-fried Natto on Rice

Make the most of your donburi rice bowl by placing it upside down over a pan of eggs and natto. A quick and easy way to steam-fry.

Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • 200 g cooked rice
  • 1 pack natto
  • 1 egg
  • Skipjack shavings, as needed
  • Vegetable oil, as needed
  • A dash of soy sauce

Directions

Pour some vegetable oil into a frying pan and place over medium heat. Add the natto.

Make a well in the center of the natto and fry until it starts to sizzle. Break the egg into the well.

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of water over the natto and egg. Cover and reduce the heat to low. Steam for around 3 minutes.

Place the rice in the donburi bowl, top with the natto and egg and sprinkle with skipjack shavings. Serve with a dash of soy sauce.
