Steamed Cheese Bread

Ingredients (Makes 6)

  • [Batter]

    • 1 egg (medium)
    • 40 g sugar
    • 10 g honey
    • 10 g melted butter
      Note

      You can melt the butter by putting it into a bowl and then putting the bowl in hot water, or by microwaving it at 600 W for about 20 sec.

    • 70 ml milk
    • [A]

      • 100 g plain flour
        Note

        Flour made with soft wheat. Contains less gluten.

      • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp grated cheese
  • [Topping]

    • Camembert cheese, as needed
    • Pizza cheese, as needed (approx. 3 tbsp)

Directions

Make the batter: In a bowl, beat the egg, then add the sugar and honey and mix in with a whisk. Add the melted butter and mix well, then add the milk and briefly mix.

Add the ingredients for [A] by sifting them.

Quickly stir with a whisk, then add the grated cheese, and stir.

Advice

The saltiness of the cheese will bring out the sweetness of the dough.

Line pudding cups with paper liners and fill about 80 % full with the batter.

Top with the camembert cheese and pizza cheese. Place into a steamer that is preheated and steaming, and steam over medium-high heat for 12-13 min. Pierce with a bamboo skewer or toothpick to check doneness: if it comes out clean, the bread is cooked through.
