Green Bell Peppers Simmered with Chirimenjako
A perfect marriage of green bell peppers with crispy fried chirimenjako. Goes so well with rice.

Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 5 green bell peppers
- 20 g chirimenjako
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp sake
Cut the bell peppers lengthwise in half. Remove the stems and seeds.
Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a pot placed over medium heat. Add the peppers and stir-fry for about a minute. Add the chirimenjako and stir-fry for 1-2 more minutes.
Add 2 tbsp of sake and 100 ml of water and bring to a gentle boil. Add the ingredients for [A] in the order in which they're listed. Cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 7-8 minutes.
