About 17,000 people braved a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius to attend the 3rd edition of Japan Myanmar Pwe Taw under a clear, bright sky.

Domo was very excited to visit Myanmar once again. Greeting visitors at the NHK World booth is one of his favorite activities.

A large panel featuring one of Japan’s iconic cherry blossom spots, Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture, was a perfect backdrop for souvenir pictures.

The long line of visitors waiting to meet the NHK World ambassador was a clear sign of his soaring popularity in Myanmar.

Before the festival, Domo visited the studios of Skynet, the operator broadcasting NHK World TV in Myanmar. He even appeared on a program to promote Japan Myanmar Pwe Taw 2017 among younger audiences.

Back at the festival, Domo had a nice surprise in store: he put on a longyi, a traditional cloth worn across the country.

Here’s the colorful result on the main stage for the evening program’s kickoff.

Domo also had plenty of fun backstage with local stars. Here he’s posing with pop singer Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein and... a miniature version of himself.

Another famous artist attending the festival was Thxa Soe, a prominent member of Myanmar’s hip hop scene.

Soon it was time to spring back into action with the Myanmar debut of Domobics!

The enthusiasm of the local dance crew quickly spread to the entire crowd.

Every year the festival brings the people of Myanmar and Japan closer together, and this edition was no exception. Domo is already looking forward to his next visit, so see you all again next year!
