Something to Keep Precious

The autumn harvest season has arrived in the Ohara district of Kyoto. Venetia gathers fennel seeds from her garden and divides the bergamot roots for next year. While tidying up the kitchen, she comes across a copper pot that she had been intending to clean up for ages. Venetia always takes great care of her furniture and utensils and wants to keep on using it, so she visits a kitchen utensil shop in the city of Kyoto to find out how to polish. There, she finds a sturdy pot that would be good for many years to come and purchase it. Finally, she makes herself a mushroom soup. It is a taste of her childhood autumns.

Recipe Mushroom Soup

[Ingredients]
Serves 4:
Mushroom 120g
Chicken Soup 400ml
Cornstarch (or potato starch) 1 Tbsp.
Milk small amount
Fresh Cream 65ml
Salt and Pepper to taste
Chives to taste

1) Boil the mushrooms in chicken soup for about 15 min, then puree them together in a blender.
2) Mix cornstarch into milk and add salt and pepper to taste. Add to ingredients from 1).
3) Add raw cream and garnish with chopped chives.
