Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba raised a record-breaking $25 billion in its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. The company initially considered floating its shares in Hong Kong. But exchange authorities rejected Chairman Jack Ma's demand to keep control over the board of directors. Business leaders are now asking if the territory paid too high a price to defend shareholder rights.
