Northern Gaza bracing for major Israeli air raids

Many Palestinians in northern parts of Gaza are fleeing their homes for fear of more air raids by Israel.

Israel's military on Sunday warned residents in the area to evacuate. Military representatives suggested they will conduct massive air raids in the near future.

Israel suspects northern Gaza is home to major rocket-firing facilities of the Islamic fundamentalist group Hamas.

Over the past 6 days, the Israeli military has bombed more than 1,400 locations in Gaza. 160 people, including many civilians, have been killed. More than 1,000 others have been injured.

Hamas and other militants continue their rocket attacks on Israel.

The foreign ministers of Germany and Italy are set to visit the Middle East in the coming days. They will discuss a ceasefire with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
