Clashes occurred in East Jerusalem on Friday between Israeli security forces and people attending a funeral for a murdered Palestinian boy. Several dozens of people have been injured.
The 16 year old youth is believed to have been killed in retaliation for the kidnappings and murders last month of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank.
The killings have rekindled tension between Israelis and Palestinians.
Thousands of Palestinians gathered for the funeral following Muslim Friday prayers in East Jerusalem.
Several thousand mourners marched through the streets following the casket, while chanting 'intifada', or uprising.
Some of them turned to violence, throwing stones at Israeli security forces who responded with tear gas.
Clashes have also occurred between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli security troops in Jerusalem's Old City.
It is feared violence may escalate after sunset, when the faithful end their daily fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
