Clashes occurred in East Jerusalem on Friday between Israeli security forces and people attending a funeral for a murdered Palestinian boy.
The 16 year old youth is believed to have been killed in retaliation for the kidnappings and murders of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank last month.
The killings have rekindled tension between Israelis and Palestinians.
Thousands of Palestinians gathered for the Muslim funeral following Friday prayers in East Jerusalem.
Some of them threw stones at Israeli security forces, which led to clashes in the streets.
An NHK correspondent in Jerusalem who witnessed the violence says security forces responded with tear gas.
Israeli police tightened security by dispatching more officers to East Jerusalem to handle the escalating tensions.
