Tokyo is a densely populated urban area full of high buildings and crowded shopping centers. And the city’s inhabitants have more and more craving for nature. This is why rooftop gardening is becoming increasingly trendy in Tokyo. Some are ordinary gardens, others are community gardens that offer an opportunity for Tokyo inhabitants to grab some soil and feel that they are living in harmony with nature.

Marie Linton was born in the south of France in 1980. After studying political science and journalism in Paris, Mexico city and England, she was hired in the French national newspaper “Le Parisien” in 2004 where she covered social and judicial issues for 6 years. She also carried out consulting missions in Cuba for the organization “Reporters without borders” and realized her first stories for TV in Cuba and Costa Rica. In 2010, she became Tokyo bureau chief for the international French TV channel “France 24” where she covered the aftermaths of March 11th, 2011. She has made four one-hour documentaries for the French television about Japan.
