Can mosquitoes transmit the coronavirus?

The World Health Organization states on its website that there is no scientific evidence to suggest that mosquitoes can transmit the coronavirus.

The organization says the coronavirus is a respiratory virus which primarily spreads through droplets emitted when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

The WHO says we can minimize the risk of infection if we frequently wash our hands with alcohol-based disinfectant or soap, and avoid close contact with anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
