French FM: Qadhafi death marks start of new era

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe says the death of fallen leader Muammar al-Qadhafi marks the beginning of a new era of democracy and reconstruction in Libya.

Juppe made the comment during a visit to New Delhi on Thursday.

France played a leading role in the military intervention in Libya.

He said the death of Qadhafi and the collapse of Sirte is the end of a very difficult period for the Libyan people and the end of 42 years of tyranny.

Juppe said France is proud to have helped the Libyan people reclaim their freedom.
