Obama beats Republican rivals in election funds

The US election regulatory agency says President Barack Obama has collected more money for the 2012 election campaign than his rival candidates in the Republican Party.

The US Federal Election Commission issued the report on Saturday on the July-September fund-raising of all the candidates.

The report says Obama has raised 79.2 million dollars for his re-election campaign.

The most popular Republican candidate, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, collected 14.1 million dollars.

The Republican's rising star, former pizza franchise owner Herman Cain, had only 2.8 million dollars.

Obama's campaign headquarters office said the number of its staff increased by a factor of 1.5 over the last 3 months when additional branches were opened across the country.

The latest polls found that less than 40 percent of the US population think Obama will be re-elected. Obama
is expected to use his abundant funds to mobilize grassroots staff to enlarge his campaign network.
