"Thank you" concert for intl help
Japanese children from disaster-hit areas and musicians have staged a concert to express their gratitude for the international support offered to Japan.
About 120 foreign ambassadors to Japan were invited to the concert in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The foreign ministry says Japan had received donations and supplies from 126 countries and regions as of mid-September.
More than 20 countries and international organizations have sent medical teams and other personnel for search operations in disaster-hit areas.
Classical pieces were played by musicians who included members of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
More than 80 students from a junior high school in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, and an elementary school in Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, also gave performances of music they had been practicing for 2 months.
The participants sang the Japanese pop song "Sukiyaki" to close the concert.
